Sichuan Cancer hospital (Sichuan Province’s Cancer Center) is the largest oncology treatment, teaching and research center of southwest of China, it operates in an integrated and multi-disciplinary basis on cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The Department of Head and Neck Oncology is dedicated to comprehensive and customized treatment methods for all forms and stages of benign or malignant tumors of the head and neck. The department was created in mid-1980s and was the first head and neck surgery department established in Sichuan Province. Today our department has 144 beds(3 divisions). As one of the province’s most-active head and neck cancer treatment centers, we complete more than 1,200 inpatient surgeries each year, giving us a remarkable depth of expertise and experience. Our surgeons perform more cancer operations at Sichuan Cancer hospital than doctors at any other hospital in the Sichuan Province. Because of their sole focus on cancer, our surgeons can often use advanced surgical techniques that result in a better quality of life for patients. Over the years, they have pioneered many surgical innovations, including minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of many cancers. Our mission is to develop new treatments for improving cure rates while preserving appearance and function in patients with head and neck cancers. Our physicians cooperate closely with colleagues from Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Pathology to develop individualized treatment approaches. In order to keep the same pace with the world, our faculty goes aboard regularly for training and communication to the first class cancer center in other nations(The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center,UTMCC;Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center,MSKCC ; National Institutes of Health,NIH;National Cancer Institute, NCI). After decades of development, the department of Head and Neck Oncology was accredited as a key department in Sichuan Province.
