Our department, mainly characterized by the surgical treatment of brain tumors, is an extremely distinctive surgical department of brain tumors cooperating with the Department of Radiotherapy, the Department of Medical Oncology, the Department of Imaging and the Department of Pathology in our hospital. With a high starting point of discipline construction, a rapid development, remarkable achievements, and a development of more than 20 years, the current comprehensive strength of our department in the western region and even the whole country is at the top level, and in partial comprehensive treatment of brain tumors is at a leading level. Diseases treated in our department mainly include brain tumors, intra/extracranial communicating tumors, intraspinal tumors and other central nervous system tumors. Especially, our department is good at the multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment of brain tumors.
Our department gathers a group of technical elites, and invests heavily in personnel training and equipment. At present, our department has 2 chief physicians, 3 associate chief physicians, 2 attending physicians and 1 resident physician, among whom 3 are doctors and 1 is Ｍaster. In addition, our department owns an advanced German ZEISS surgical microscope, a micropower system for surgical operation, a German BrainLab neural navigation system, a USA Johnson intracranial pressure monitor, an ECG monitoring instrument beside bed, a center for gamma knife treatment of the head, etc. Moreover, the surgical treatment and comprehensive treatment of brain tumors, intra/extracranial communicating tumors, intraspinal tumors and head and neck tumors in our department are highly distinctive. Particularly, our department is good at various microsurgical minimally invasive surgeries, minimally invasive surgeries for spinal tumors, minimally invasive surgeries guided by neural navigation, trans-nasal/sphenoidal/saddle area tumor surgeries, repair and reconstruction of tissue defects in the basilar region, etc..
More than 20 years of clinical practice, scientific research and teaching in our department result in innumerable great achievements. Our department published more than 300 papers in the key journals and magazines at home and abroad, edited or participated in dozens of works, presided over more than 10 provincial scientific research projects, won multiple Science and Technology Progress Awards of Sichuan Province, Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission and Chengdu City, and was identified as the domestic leading level. Furthermore, our department trained many Ｍaster degree candidates cooperated with medical universities.
