1.Overview
The central venous catheterization service items began in 1993 in our hospital, which have been developing and innovating constantly these years. The management model of central vascular access catheterization technology bundle was initiated in 2009. We took the lead in establishing central venous catheterization center(168 m2) in Sichuan province in 2010,which included health education room,catheterization room, catheter nursing room, changing room and office room. Our hospital is one of the first hospital which conducts multi-access central venous catheterization in one specific operation center with a daily operation quantity surpasses 80. What’s more, this catheterization center is responsible for catheter nursing of outpatients,difficult and complicated cases consultation from inpatients, outpatients or other health centers.
2.Equipments and technology advantages
At present, central venous catheterization center is equipped with 4 color doppler ultrasonography machines, providing 7 intravenous accesses catheterization service which contains catheterization via subclavian vein, peripheral arm vein, femoral vein, internal jugular vein ,external jugular vein, axillary vein and totally implantable venous-access ports. The assistive technologies the catheterization center used to ensure safety and accuracy include ultrasound guided seldinger technology and intracardiac electrocardiogram technology. As a consequence,our catheterization technology is famous for precision(one-puncture successful rate 99.1% ),efficient and diversity of choice in southwest of China. Each cancer patient ,even in various of bad condition of venous access, can always receive one appropriate venous catheter.
3.IV Team and Clinical Nurse Specialist training
Our hospital is one of the first batch in domestic to build a intravenous infusion multidisciplinary team which is composed of 27 part-time nurses,6 full-time catheterization nurses and 6 technological guidance specialists coming from radiology department,invasive technology department,ultrasound department,anesthesiology department,emergency department and intensive care unit.
As one of the first Nurse Specialist training bases began in 2010 in Sichuan province ,we have trained more than 600 oncology nurse specialists and intravenous therapy nurse specialists .Since this center’s inception,it has maintained its position as a provincial leader in high quality teaching and has a strong appeal to oncology nurse and intravenous therapy nurses .
4.scientific research achievements
In the past five years, the center has conducted 7 researches in the field of catherization technology application ,patient education and management. Up to now, the center has published more than 30 papers, including 3 Science cited index listed journals. Futher more, we got one national level and one provincial science & technology awards in 2014 and 2015. As a popularity technology,one of the projects had been selected by Health and Family Planning of Commission of Sichuan Province to generalize in 2015.
