Sichuan Cancer Hospital medical imaging center is currently a large integrated medical imaging diagnosis and treatment center lies in Sichuan province, Southwest China. It is the first-degree key discipline of Sichuan province and national standard training base of medical imaging diagnosis and treatment. The center performs more than 200,000 person-time of examination and treatment each year, and undertake the teaching program of Chengdu Medical College oncology class. It is Ｍaster's degree authorization center of medical imaging and nuclear medicine of Chengdu Medical College and Guiyang Medical College. We have deployed a long-term commitment to the tumor imaging diagnosis, staging and treatment evaluation, based on the advantages of tumor specialized hospital and development trend of tumor treatment in China. Accompanied by the comprehensive development in clinical works, teaching and scientific research, we have fully utilized the advantages of specialized subject hospital and teaching hospital, combining with the characteristics of our hospital and importing new technologies, to explore the future of tumor early imaging diagnosis, comprehensive evaluation and treatment, especially in tumors of digestive, respiratory, nervous and urogenital system.

She is Chief physician, committee member of radiology branch of Sichuan medical association, committee member of radiology branch of Chengdu medical association. She participated in the editorial committee of “Gastrointestinal Oncology, People’s Medical Publishing House, 2004”, “Medical Imaging Diagnosis of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors, People’s Medical Publishing House, 2009” and “The New Practical Guideline Of Cancer Rehabilitation And Treatment, Friendship Publishing House, 2003”. She have written 36 published articles, including 1 article indexed by SCI.
The center currently has a total of 4 chief physicians, 7 associate chief physicians, 3 medical doctors, 25 medical Ｍasters. Key members include one academic leader of Health and Family Planning Commission of Sichuan Province, and one supervisor of postgraduate. We have a complete training program, and fund employees to participate in domestic and abroad training programs, such as trainings in the United States, Japan and other countries, and domestic well-known hospitals. Participating in major domestic and foreign academic conferences of employees are encouraged.
3. Highlights of clinical and scientific research
(1). The treatment of liver cancer is gradually changed to the individualized comprehensive treatment pattern, which is based on the transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) as the principal treatment. On the foundation of conventional standardization treatment, we develop the individualized comprehensive treatment plan for each patient, which including: TACE combined with radiofrequency ablation; TACE combined with conventional ultrasound guided percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) in tumor; TACE combined with radioactive particles implantation; TACE combined with conventional surgical excision; TACE combined with targeted drugs sorafenib.
(2). The brain functional magnetic resonance imaging study on the cerebral astrocytoma grading and radioactive necrosis, which including: Hydrogen proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) in the application of cerebral astrocytes classification; Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) and 1H-MRS in the application of radioactive brain necrosis.

The stage of uterine malignant tumor and the assessment of the tumor activity, pelvic bone signal change after radiotherapy and the functional magnetic resonance imaging research on radioactive injury of bone, which including: the application of DWI and dynamic enhanced volume scanning (3D-VIBE) on MRI in cervical cancer staging and in the evaluation of tumor activity; pelvic bone signal change after radiotherapy of uterine malignant tumor and the application of functional magnetic resonance for assessment the radioactive bone injury.
(4). The application of MR Volume imaging enhanced water signal (VIEWS) and DWI on the evaluation of the satellite nodules and the micro infiltration at the edge of breast cancer.
(5). The application of standardization low dose CT scanning technology in lung nodules screening and promotion: based on the simulation of chest body model and low dose spiral CT scanning technology with computer aided diagnosis for the best plan used at the lung nodules screening and management in the high risk population.
(6). CT perfusion scanning technology in the application of cancer diagnosis, treatment and basic research: the use of 64 row helical CT perfusion scanning imaging to evaluate tumor angiogenesis and prognosis of lung cancer; the clinical application value of CT perfusion scanning technology to evaluate radiotherapy curative effect and prognosis in the central type of non-small cell lung cancer; the application of whole tumor iCT perfusion imaging of cervical cancer in the assessment of tumor angiogenesis and biological behavior; the study of 256 slice spiral low dose CT perfusion parameters correlated with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene expression; the correlation of 256 slice spiral CT low-dose whole organ perfusion scanning parameters with the MVD, LVD and VEGF of the liver malignant tumor, and the assessment of the prognosis.
(7). The application of PET imaging agent 18 F-FMISO to evaluate the lack of oxygen microenvironment of breast tumor.
(8). Iodine 131 treatment of differentiated thyroid carcinoma.
4. Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
A well organized and efficiently Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) was established by the cooperation of Medical Imaging Center and Surgical Department, Radiotherapy Department, Internal Medicine Department of Tumor Therapy and Pathology Department. Intractable cases of colorectal cancer, the urinary system neoplasm, gynecologic neoplasm, head and neck neoplasm, thoracic neoplasm and liver and stomach neoplasm are proposed to the Multidisciplinary Team to discuss weekly. Now, the Multidisciplinary Team has provided us a valuable chance to learn recent research progress and guidelines for the standardized diagnosis and treatment of tumor domestic and abroad. It can also help the clinical physicians to make a more specified and reasonable medical decisions for the patients.
5. Research and Teaching.
In the recent 3 years, 47 papers were published on the core journals of China as the first author or the author of communication in our center. 7 articles were published in journals indexed by Science Citation Index(SCI). The center as obtained 9 funded researchs in total, including 6 researches funded by Health and Family Planning Commission of Sichuan Province, 2 researches funded by Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province, 1 research funded by Chengdu Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. One of our employees was awarded the Third Class Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Nursing Association. And we won the Second Class Prize of Chengdu Science and Technology Progress Award twice.
Our Department gained qualification for National Image Diagnosis and Resident Training Base in 2003. Our Department is undertaking the undergraduate courses in Imaging and Nuclear Medicine of Chengdu Medical College. Our Department has gained the qualification to enroll postgraduates in Imaging and Nuclear Medicine of Guiyang Medical College, and Our Department has also gained the qualification to enroll postgraduates in Oncology of Chengdu Medical College.
Medical imaging technology has experienced everlasting development of nearly a hundred years. Now it has become more and more important in clinical diagnosis and treatment. With the fast development of computer science and medical devices, especially the introducing of a totally new and more advanced PACS system, we will make more effort to learn new technologies. We will try to fulfill the Remote Medical Consultation and Remote Medical Image Teaching in the department and devote to promoting the medical imaging service and scientific research. The Medical Imaging Center will gain faster and all-around development. It will make a greater contribution to people's health.
