01. Sichuan Cancer Hospital Wins First Prize at the 9th Hospital Quality Control Circles Competition of Sichuan Province
The 9th Hospital Quality Control Circles Competition of Sichuan Province, held by the Sichuan Hospital Association, was held at Guanghan People's Hospital, from August 29 to 30. A total of 84 medical units participated in this year's competition. The participating quality control circles included problem-solving, research-based, and other types across various specialties, such as nursing, medical treatment, pharmaceutical affairs, medical technologies, administration, logistics, and emergency treatment. Our hospital's cath lab team stood out in the competition, winning first prize in the comprehensive category for 3A-grade hospitals.
02. Chinese Society of Gynecological Oncology, CMA Officially Releases Clinical Practice Guide for Gynecologic Oncology in China Edition 2024, Professor Zhang Guonan from Sichuan Cancer Hospital Serving as Deputy Chief Editor
On August 31, 2024, the Chinese Society of Gynecological Oncology, Chinese Medical Association (CMA) officially released Volume 1 of the Clinical Practice Guide for Gynecologic Oncology in China Edition 2024. The formal release of the Guide marks a significant achievement in the field of gynecologic oncology in China.
Professor Zhang Guonan from our hospital and Professor Wang Hui from Women's Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University served as deputy chief editors of the Guide.
03. Sichuan Cancer Hospital's Fall 2024 Specialized Nurse Training Class Officially Begins
On September 3, 2024, our hospital successfully held the opening ceremony for the Fall 2024 Specialized Nurse Training Class. Liao Hong, a Party Committee Member and the Vice President of our hospital, relevant department heads, the medical directors, heads, class instructors, and secretaries of various training bases, and 141 specialty nurse trainees attended the ceremony.
04. Cultivating Specialized Talent in Alliance, Enhancing Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment: Standardized Training Specialty Tailored Class Phase III of Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Quality Improvement Alliance of Sichuan Province Begins
Our hospital organized a series of standardized training specialty tailored classes for member units of the Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Quality Improvement Alliance of Sichuan Province, offering free standardized training for professionals in oncology diagnosis and treatment. In the second half of this year, the third training phase will be held. Following earlier promotions, a total of 35 trainees from 26 hospitals have enrolled, including two participants from Xizang, to take part in the three to six months of training. Today, our hospital held the opening ceremony for the third phase of the standardized training specialty tailored series of classes in the surgical learning room. Liao Hong, a Party Committee Member and Vice President of our hospital attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. As of now, our hospital's standardized training class for oncology has reached its third phase, with a total of 103 trainees enrolled.
05. Sharing Medicine-Education Integration Experience, Exploring New Teaching Methods: Sichuan Cancer Hospital Holds Speech Contest on Teaching Methods
To further enhance teaching quality, showcase innovations in teaching methods of our clinical faculty, and share experience in clinical mentorship, our hospital held a speech contest on "Teaching Methods" in celebration of Teachers' Day. A total of 14 teachers participated in this contest. After an exciting competition, nine contestants were awarded, including first, second, and third prizes.
06. Professor Lu Man's Research Team from Sichuan Cancer Hospital Participates in Health Innovation Achievements Exhibition of Zhejiang Province
On September 5, 2024, the 6th Academic Exchange Conference on Health Innovation Transformation was held in Hangzhou. Led by the Sichuan Medical Science and Education Center and our hospital's office of academic research, post-doctor He Chuanshi from Professor Lu Man's team at our hospital participated in the interprovincial alliance health innovation exhibition with a team. They showcased the multi-functional parameter customizable single array element focused ultrasound diagnosis and treatment integrated device, which is an outcome of a key research and development project from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China they jointly achieved with Professor Wu Zhe at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
07. Sichuan Cancer Hospital Wins Three Awards at the 9th Micro Film and Short Video Collection and Exhibition Event Themed "Inherit Glory, Safeguard Life"
On September 6, 2024, the Health Communication Capacity Enhancement and the 9th "Inherit Glory, Safeguard Life" Micro Film and Short Video On-site Exchange Event were held in Chengdu. The event was hosted by the Health Commission of Sichuan Province and undertaken by the Sichuan Health Publicity and Education Center. Zhang Feng, a Member of the Leading Party Members Group, Deputy Director, and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Health Commission of Sichuan Province, attended the event and delivered a speech. Our hospital's short video titled "If I Have Received the HPV Vaccine, Can I Still Get Cervical Cancer?" won the Silver Award in the Science Popularization category; the promotional film "Grow Towards the Sun, Move Forward for Love" received the Excellent Award in the Micro Film Documentary category; our hospital was awarded the Best Organization Award.
08. Sichuan Cancer Hospital Awarded "Outstanding Team Prize" at the 3rd National Surgical Basic Skills Competition, China Medical Quality Conference
From September 6 to 7, the National Surgical Basic Skills Competition took place at the 3rd China Medical Quality Conference in Hangzhou. After two days of intense competition, our hospital was awarded the "Outstanding Team" prize. Our competition team included Dr. Deng Zijian from the Colorectal Surgery Department, Dr. Liu Jinyuan from the ENT professional base, Dr. Li Haoran and Dr. Liang Shuoming from the surgery (cardiovascular surgery) professional base, and Dr. Chu Jie from the surgery professional base.
09. New Beginning, New Journey: Daytime Medicine Treatment Area at Tianfu Campus, Sichuan Cancer Hospital Officially Opens
After careful preparation and a trial run, the Daytime Medicine Treatment Area at Tianfu Campus officially opened on September 9. In the morning that day, Liao Hong, a Party Committee Member and Vice President of our hospital attended the ceremony, along with heads of relevant divisions, offices, and departments and some medical workers.
10. Case of Ward II, Department of Chest, Radiotherapy Center, Sichuan Cancer Hospital Selected as One of the Top 100 Cases Nationwide
From September 6 to 8, the 3rd China Medical Quality Conference was held in Hangzhou. The theme of this conference was "Emphasize Healthcare, Enhance Quality, and Strengthen Safety—Cooperative Governance, Joint Improvement, Collective Progress, Co-Creation, Shared Benefits, and Mutual Win". From March to July 2024, the National Institute of Hospital Administration, NHC (National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China) organized the Healthcare Quality and Safety Improvement and Implementation Case/Experience Collection Event for the Action Plan for Overall Improvement of Healthcare Quality. A total of 1,425 cases were received. The case titled "Improving Compliance with Dietary and ONS Nutrition Plans for Patients Undergoing Chemoradiotherapy for Esophageal Cancer", submitted by the team of Ward II, Department of Chest, Radiotherapy Center, was selected as one of the Top 100 Cases in the country.
11. First GD2 Antibody Naxitamab Immunotherapy at Sichuan Cancer Hospital Successfully Completed
On September 4, under the on-site guidance of our hospital's President Lin Tongyu, Party Committee Member and Vice President Liao Hong, and other hospital leaders, the medical staff from the Pediatric Oncology Department, the anesthesiology team, and experts from Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center collaborated to administer GD2 antibody Naxitamab infusion to a 1.5-year-old high-risk neuroblastoma patient. This was the first infusion of the drug at our hospital. It not only brought a new life opportunity and hope to the neuroblastoma patient but also provided renewed hope for many families with high-risk neuroblastoma cases.
12. Professor Lu Shun's Team from Sichuan Cancer Hospital Awarded Second Prize in 2023 Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Awards
On the morning of September 10, the Sichuan Science and Technology Conference was held in Chengdu, where the representatives of the 2023 Sichuan Science and Technology Awards winners were ceremoniously recognized. Professor Lu Shun's team from our hospital was awarded the Second Prize of the Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Awards for a project that was completed independently by our hospital.
13. Inheriting Medicine with Humanistic Care, Jointly Nurturing Medical Talent: Sichuan Cancer Hospital Holds the 40th Teachers' Day Celebration and Awards Ceremony
On the occasion of the 40th Teachers' Day, to further promote the commendable customs of respecting teachers and valuing education, and to encourage all faculty members of our hospital to actively engage in the mission of nurturing virtuous talent for the Party and the nation, our hospital held the 2024 Teachers' Day Celebration and Awards Ceremony at the Academic Center on the afternoon of September 10. Party Committee Secretary Yi Qun, and the President of our hospital Lin Tongyu, along with members of the hospital leadership team, department heads, ward leaders, award-winning teachers, and student representatives, totaling over 300 people, participated in this event. The event presented the following awards for 2024: Outstanding Individual in Teaching, Outstanding Graduate Tutor, Outstanding Resident Doctor Normalized Training Teacher, Excellent Resident Doctor Normalized Training Instructor, Excellent Skills Instructor, Excellent Continuing Education and Internship Instructor, Excellent Specialized Doctor Normalized Training Instructor, Excellent Pharmacist Normalized Training Instructor, Excellent Nursing Normalized Training Instructor, Excellent Specialized Nurse Instructor, and Teaching Skills Competition winners.
14. Sichuan Cancer Hospital Successfully Concludes Final Practical Assessment for Tumor Precision Radiotherapy Specialized Skills Training Program Phase I
On the morning of September 8, the final practical assessment for the first phase of the Precision Radiotherapy Specialized Skills Training Program of the Health Human Resources Development Center, National Health Commission, P. R. China was held at our hospital. Our hospital successfully completed the assessment tasks for three areas of the Precision Radiotherapy Specialized Skills Training Program: target section delineation, physical plan development, and radiotherapy technology operation. A total of 29 trainees completed the preliminary training tasks and participated in the final practical assessment for this training phase.
15. Radiation Oncology Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province Granted U.S. Patent Authorization
Recently, the team led by Professor Lang Jinyi and Associate Researcher Chen Meihua from the Radiation Oncology Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province, in collaboration with Professor Xue Xinyu's team from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, successfully obtained a U.S. invention patent for their work titled "Preparation of Photodynamic Therapy Tablet and Method for Construction and Application of Anti-tumor Model for Enhanced Cancer Treatment".
16. Deeply Exchanging Experience, Co-writing New Chapter in Development: Vice President Lin Tongyu Leads a Delegation to Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center for Research and Learning
To further learn from the experience and practices of advanced hospitals, strengthen the quality development of Sichuan Cancer Hospital, and support its high-quality growth, President of the Hospital Lin Tongyu led Party Committee members, Vice President Lu Man, and several heads of clinical departments and administrative departments to Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center from September 13 to 14, 2024. The focus of this visit was to study advanced practices in the establishment of the country's regional cancer care center, as well as the enhancement of performance evaluation indicators, discipline construction, and administrative and logistics management of 3-grade public hospitals. A forum was held, which was chaired by Wu Shaoxin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center.
17. Voluntary Blood Donation for Love
On September 24, our hospital organized a voluntary blood donation event on-site. A total of 23 donations were successfully collected, amounting to 6,900 ml of blood. Since 2023, our hospital has jointly organized multiple voluntary blood donation events with the Chengdu Blood Center, actively encouraging all the medical staff and family members of patients to participate in voluntary blood donations.
18. Sichuan Cancer Hospital's Thoracic Surgery Team Achieves New Success at the 20th ISDE World Congress
The 20th World Congress of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE) was held in Edinburgh, Scotland on September 22–24. This congress was attended by medical researchers from 50 countries worldwide. Among 413 submitted studies, our hospital's team received two oral presentation slots (Fang Qiang and Wang Kangning from Ward I, Department of Thoracic Surgery) and four wall poster presentation slots (Han Yongtao, Peng Lin, and Leng Xuefeng from Ward I, Department of Thoracic Surgery; Peng Jun from Ward III, Department of Thoracic Surgery).
19. Sichuan Cancer Hospital's Department of Medical Oncology Leads Multicenter Clinical Research Wall Poster Presentation at ESMO Congress 2024
This year's ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology) Congress was held in Barcelona, Spain, from September 13 to 17 (local time in Europe). The Congress covered all types of tumors and various clinical treatment methods. Approximately 20,000 people worldwide attended. The preliminary results of the national multicenter clinical research led by the team of chief physician Zhou Jin from the Department of Medical Oncology at our hospital were successfully selected for wall poster presentation at the ESMO Congress.
20. CSWOG-RTOG's 2024 European Training Program, ESTRO Evidence Based Radiation Oncology Conference Successfully Held
From September 21 to 25, with the support and guidance of the Sichuan Association for Science and Technology, the European training program of CSWOG-RTOG (West China Society of Therapeutic and Radiation Oncology), titled "ESTRO (European Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology) Evidence Based Radiation Oncology Conference" was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The Conference was co-organized by the Radiotherapy Center of our hospital.
21.Professor Johannes Kaanders from Radboudumc, Netherlands Conducts Academic Exchanges at the Department of Radiotherapy Center, Sichuan Cancer Hospital
On September 26, the Department of Radiotherapy Center invited Professor Johannes Kaanders to our hospital for academic exchange and case discussions. The meeting was led and chaired by Deputy Director Zhang Shichuan of the Radiotherapy Center, with 2022-enrolled normalized trainees Deng Yue and Xiong Jing from the base of the Department of Radiation Oncology presenting the cases.
22. Delivering Warmth, Addressing People's Concerns, and Promoting Development: Sichuan Cancer Hospital Party Secretary Yi Qun Leads a Team to Conduct Rural Revitalization Investigation, Visits, and Free Clinics in Wufu Town, Yilong County
On September 27–28, Sichuan Cancer Hospital Party Secretary Yi Qun led a team to Wufu Town in Yilong County and six villages of assistance within its jurisdiction to conduct targeted assistance investigations, provide free medical services, and engage in academic exchanges. On the morning of September 28, Yi Qun and her entourage arrived at Wufu Town in Yilong County to visit the six first secretaries dispatched from our hospital who lived in the town. They engaged in exchanges and discussions, listened to the secretaries' reports on their work in grassroots Party building, industrial revitalization, healthcare assistance, and services for the public, and also gained a detailed understanding of the challenges and difficulties the secretaries faced. The Party Branch from the Party Committee Office of our hospital conducted paired cooperative development activities with the Party Branch of Qilong Village, and the General Party Branch of the Department of Surgical Anesthesia did with the Party Branch of Dongguan Village. Yi Qun stated that Sichuan Cancer Hospital would fully leverage its expertise in cancer prevention and treatment in the next step. Taking "Five Express Trains" (medical treatment, academic exchanges, scientific research and development, resource sharing, and preventive management), it aims to enhance the healthcare service capacity of the People's Hospital of Yilong County and contribute to the construction of a "Healthy China" and a "Healthy Sichuan". Additionally, Yi Qun, on behalf of the Party and government leadership team of Sichuan Cancer Hospital, donated RMB 150,000 to special funds for rural revitalization and over RMB 20,000 worth of supplies to Wufu Town in Yilong County. Subsequently, Sichuan Cancer Hospital's clinical experts conducted a free medical service event for the public in celebration of the National Day, benefiting over 500 residents.
23. Sichuan Cancer Hospital Successfully Conducts 2024 "Health Services for the Public" Single-disease Multi-disciplinary MDT Expert Team Free Clinics
On September 27, Sichuan Cancer Hospital, leveraging the team advantage of cancer hospitals, hosted a series of single-disease multi-disciplinary MDT expert team free clinics as part of the 2024 national "Health Services for the Public" initiative. This series of activities included multi-disciplinary free clinics, cancer screening consultations, science popularization, and online consultations, with a total of 11 teams and 33 doctors participating in the multi-disciplinary free clinics. From September 24 to 27, Sichuan Cancer Hospital's online hospital provided daily online consultations of different departments, maximizing convenience for patients in meeting their medical needs. Tianfu Campus, Sichuan Cancer Hospital participated in a free clinic event held at the Zhonglou Square in Nanhu Park, while the Wuhou Campus took part in a free clinic at Fucheng International Center in the Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, to further address the medical needs of residents in the surrounding communities.
24. Sichuan Cancer Hospital Wins Second Prize at the 9th "Tianfu Chengyi Cup" Sichuan Provincial Clinical Skills Competition for Resident Doctors with Normalized Training
From September 28 to 29, the 9th "Tianfu Chengyi Cup" Sichuan Provincial Clinical Skills Competition for Resident Doctors with Normalized Training was grandly held at Chengdu Medical College, hosted by the Health Commission of Sichuan Province. A total of 183 resident doctors from 43 resident doctor training bases across the province participated in this competition. After intense competition, Chen Li, a resident doctor from our hospital's surgical professional base (cardiothoracic direction), won the second prize in the surgical category.
