01. Our Hospital Organizes Army Day-themed Activities to Foster a Profound Military-civilian Relationship

To celebrate the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, foster mutual support between civilian sectors and the military in the new era, and enhance military-civilian unity, all active and ex-service soldiers were exempted from registration fees on August 1 and 2. This year marks the third year Sichuan Cancer Hospital has conducted this activity. In addition, on the occasion of Army Day on August 1, the hospital offered holiday gifts to our demobilized military staff and their families, along with letters of sympathy to express our care for them.

Summary of Assessment Results for Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratories in 2023

Recently, the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province announced the assessment results for Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratories in 2023. A total of 105 key laboratories, each established and operational for at least one year (inclusive), participated in this assessment. The Radiation Oncology Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province of Sichuan Cancer Hospital successfully passed the assessment and was rated as "Good".

03. Our Hospital Holds the 2024 New Employee Induction Ceremony, Training, and Team Building Outreach Activity

On August 7, 2024, the 2024 new employee induction ceremony was held at Sichuan Cancer Hospital's International Academic Center. The hospital's Party and administrative leaders, along with 108 new employees, attended the ceremony. From August 7 to 10, the 2024 new employee induction training and team-building activities were held. During this event, Professor Wang Chao from Chongqing Hongyan Executive Leadership Academy was specially invited to deliver a presentation on the revolutionary theme of "Remain True to Our Original Aspiration" for new employees. The presentation focused on the topic of "Examining the Character Cultivation of Young Cadres from Xi Jinping's Educated Youth Years". On August 10, the 2024 new employee team-building activities took place at the Tianfu Campus.

04 Professor Zhang Guonan of Our Hospital Wins the Title of "Healthy Sichuan — Great Doctors"

Recently, the Publicity Department of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Spiritual Civilization Construction Office of Sichuan Province, and the Health Commission of Sichuan Province have jointly issued the Notice on the Recommendation and Evaluation Results of the Fifth "Healthy Sichuan — Great Doctors". Professor Zhang Guonan from Sichuan Cancer Hospital has been awarded the title of "Healthy Sichuan — Great Doctors".

05. Our Hospital Organizes Party Members to Visit the Archive Exhibition of "Family Tradition of Chinese Communists" at the Sichuan Archives

To thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and carry forward and inherit the revolutionary family tradition, the CPC Committee of Sichuan Cancer Hospital organized a visit on August 9. Led by Fan Wei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee, and Li Jian, Member of the CPC Committee and Chief Accountant, some Party members of our hospital attended the archive exhibition of "Family Tradition of Chinese Communists" at the Sichuan Archives.

06. The Clinical Practice Guideline for Robotic Surgical System Assisted Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery (2024 Edition) Compiled by Our Hospital is to be Unveiled

Recently, the Clinical Practice Guideline for Robotic Surgical System Assisted Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery (2024 edition) was officially published in the Chinese Journal of Surgery. This guideline is a collaborative effort co-led by the Expert Working Group on Thyroid Surgery of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association Surgeon Branch, the Society of Thyroid Diseases, the Chinese Research Hospital Association, and the Society of General Surgery, China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care. The guideline is authored by Professor Li Chao, head of the thyroid-head and neck surgery department of our hospital, along with well-known experts in the thyroid field nationwide.

07. Chinese Doctor's Day 2024: Rich and Diverse Activities at Sichuan Cancer Hospital

To celebrate the 7th Chinese Doctor's Day under the theme of "Advocating Humanistic Spirit, Demonstrating the Benevolence of Doctors", Sichuan Cancer Hospital organized a series of activities. These include 12 activities, such as the Sichuan Cancer Hospital Public Welfare Tour for Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Quality Improvement, Physician Care Activity, Selection of the Most Beautiful Physician, Art Performance, as well as Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Exhibition. These activities aim to enhance public health awareness, carry forward the professional spirit of physicians, support the physical and mental health of physicians, promote harmony between doctors and patients, and spread positive energy. The Sichuan Cancer Hospital Public Welfare Tour has strengthened its connections with member hospitals of the Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Quality Improvement Alliance of Sichuan Province, fostered the sharing of medical resources, and promoted the homogeneous development of medical resources. Additionally, it has provided high-quality and convenient diagnosis and treatment services for cancer patients. On August 15, the Most Beautiful Physician Commendation event took place, honoring 12 physicians as the Most Beautiful Physicians and recognizing 28 as Excellent Physicians. On August 19, the Wuhou Main Campus and Tianfu Campus held free medical treatment activities. Registration fees were waived for both general outpatient services and online consultations through the Internet hospital. Additionally, a lecture on employee mental health was conducted under the theme of "Relieving Occupational Stress and Improving Communication Skills". There was also an activity for collecting photography, calligraphy, and painting works, themed "Doctor in My Eyes". The hospital anthem "Move Forward for Love" was also officially released during Chinese Doctor's Day.

08. Several Cases of Our Hospital are Shortlisted in the List of Innovative Practice Cases for Improving Quality and Efficiency of Medical and Health Services

The National Institute of Hospital Administration, National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, organized an activity for "Soliciting Innovative Practice Cases on Improving Quality and Efficiency of Medical and Health Services" from February to May 2024. The aim is to continuously enhance medical quality and safety management, boost medical quality service capacity, summarize the innovative practices and advanced experience of various regions and units, and explore and promote advanced models for the high-quality development of hospitals. After evaluation, the expert panel announced the shortlist of cases on August 10, 2024. A total of five cases from our hospital were successfully shortlisted, including one excellent case and four valuable cases.

09. Our First National Key R&D Program Successfully Passes the Comprehensive Performance Evaluation

On July 17, 2024, the High-tech Research and Development Center of the National Natural Science Foundation of China organized experts to hold a comprehensive performance evaluation meeting in Chengdu. The "Research on the Application of Human Exhaled Gas Detection Technology Based on Quantum Cascade Laser in the Diagnosis of Lung Cancer and Other Diseases (2020YFB0408400)", a key special project under the "13th Five-Year" national R&D focus plan "Strategic Advanced Electronic Materials", led by Sichuan Cancer Hospital, has successfully passed the comprehensive performance evaluation.

10. Wang Qifeng's Team from the Department of Radiotherapy Center Publishes Research Results on Esophageal Cancer in a Nature Sub-journal

Recently, Wang Qifeng's team from the Department of Radiotherapy Center of Sichuan Cancer Hospital published a research paper titled "Toripalimab plus chemotherapy and radiotherapy for treatment-naive advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: A single-arm phase 2 trial" in a Nature sub-journal Nature Communications (IF: 14.7, a top journal in the Q1 status of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) This study is a single-center, prospective phase II clinical trial that has demonstrated for the first time the safety and efficacy of radiotherapy combined with chemoimmunotherapy as the first-line treatment for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. It provides robust evidence support for new clinical treatment strategies.

11. Experts from Chinese Nursing Association Supervise Our Hospital's Clinical Practice and Teaching for Nutrition Support Nurses

On August 21, 2024, two experts Wang Jing and Cao Hua, from the Supervision Group of Clinical Practice and Teaching Base for Nutrition Support Nurses of the Chinese Nursing Association, supervised and inspected Sichuan Cancer Hospital's clinical teaching base for nutrition support nurses outside Beijing.

12. Integration of Disciplines and Innovations in Medical Engineering: The 18th Western China Conference on Radiation Oncology Held in Chengdu

The 18th Western China Conference on Radiation Oncology was held in Chengdu from August 23 to 25, 2024, focusing on cutting-edge topics through discipline integration and exploring the future of radiotherapy in Western China through innovations in medical engineering. The aim is to further develop new quality productive forces of radiotherapy and promote high-quality development of radiotherapy in Western China. The conference was sponsored by the West China Society of Therapeutic and Radiation Oncology and the Sichuan Anti-Cancer Association, and co-organized by the Sichuan Cancer Hospital & Institute, Sichuan Cancer Center, Affiliate Cancer Hospital of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
